Oxford Reading Lists Online (ORLO): Moving Items, Deleted Items

Moving Items

There are a few ways of moving items around within a reading list:

  1. Step-by-step - good for moving items one or two places up or down. Click on the check-box on the left of a citation to cause the actions bar to appear at the top of the screen. Click the up and down arrows to move the citation. Multiple items can be selected at once.

  2. Dragging - also good for moving items a short way; some users can find it fiddly, however. Hover the mouse over the left hand side of the citation until you see the drag waffle icon. A horizontal positioning bar will appear as you drag, showing where the citation is being positioned:

Recycling bin for deleted items

When Items or Sections are deleted from a list, deleted items will appear in a recycling bin. The bin is only visible when there are items in it; the bin is located within a list and will only contain items deleted from that list.

To restore items to a list, click on the Deleted Items bin to open it:

Grab and drag the citation into the list. Alternatively, click the arrow to expand the citation:

This will allow you to select which section the item will return to (the citation will appear at the bottom of the section). Click 'Restore' to restore the citation to the list:

Items will remain in the recycling bin for 30 days. You can delete items permanently from the bin by clicking on the bin icon, or clicking 'Permanently deleted.' A note remains on the items to let you know how many days they have remaining in the bin.

Moving Items - clipboard

The Move to Clipboard feature is useful if you need to move an item to another section entirely. Click on the three-dots on any citation, and select 'Move item':
