Each ORLO list requires a separate 'course record' in the Library Management System (Alma) to allow publication of a list. This will also allow you to place digitisation requests for scanned chapters/articles to be created and uploaded to your list (see the Digitisation page for further details). These records allow ORLO to sync with the Digital Content Store, the CLA repository for copyright-cleared scans. Course records have been created for lists migrated from the previous system. You can set up a new list without a course record, but you must request a course record before the list can be published.
To request a new Alma course, please fill out our Request a Course Record form.
The following information must be supplied:
The ORLO Team will set up a course for you as soon as possible and get in touch with you to confirm, or to request any other necessary information not captured on the form.
Reading lists imported from the old system (Talis) will usually already have a course record set up by the ORLO Team. If your course already has a record, you can see this at the top of the list - to the left of the list title a mortar board icon with blue text following indicates that a Course Record is attached:
It can also be found in the List Info panel:
Once the course has been set up, you will need to link it to your list.
Click on 'Link to Course' at the top of your list:
In the pop-up window, begin typing the name of your list; the course records will be set up following the standard ORLO naming convention. Select the correct course to link:
Select the correct course, then click 'Save':
