Oxford Reading Lists Online (ORLO): Tagging & Reading importances

Tagging Items

There are several different kinds of Tags available in Leganto. Tags on citations in a list are set centrally; tags on your Favourites are free-text and controlled by you.

Tags in a list are of three different types:

  • Public Tags can be seen by everyone. They are most often used for student reading importances (Essential, Recommended, Further) and are marked with a mortar-board icon.
  • Instructor Tags can be seen by Instructors and Library staff. They are most often used to mark items reviewed by the library for Instructor information (e.g. - ebook unavailable; digitisation not possible; digitisation accepted) and have an icon of a book with a bookmark.
  • Library Tags can only be seen by Library staff. They are used as part of the process of reviewing a list (e.g. - On order, check with Subject Librarian) and have an icon of a portico, much like the Clarendon Building.

Any citation can contain multiple tags of all types. Students, Instructors, and Library Staff can filter lists on the tags they are able to see.

Reading Importances

Reading Importances are now added as Tags.

Follow the instructions above for adding tags - Select any of the tags with a mortar board icon to add tags for students.

The options are:
Essential
Recommended
Further
Lecture Readings
TW (for content or trigger warnings for sensitive information)

Reading Importances can help your students organise their study time. Students can filter to select these tags using the filter icon at the top of the Reading list.
