The software underlying ORLO is in constant development; monthly software updates are pushed to the system usually the first weekend of the month. This page contains short guides to highlight any relevant new functionality that appears in ORLO with these monthly updates. The boxes will then move to the relevant tab after the next update.
Most recent update: 2nd March
Next update: 6th April
When Items or Sections are deleted from a list, deleted items will appear in a recycling bin. The bin is only visible when there are items in it; the bin is located within a list and will only contain items deleted from that list.
To restore items to a list, click on the Deleted Items bin to open it:
Grab and drag the citation into the list. Alternatively, click the arrow to expand the citation:
This will allow you to select which section the item will return to (the citation will appear at the bottom of the section). Click 'Restore' to restore the citation to the list:
Items will remain in the recycling bin for 30 days. You can delete items permanently from the bin by clicking on the bin icon, or clicking 'Permanently deleted.' A note remains on the items to let you know how many days they have remaining in the bin.
Library staff can now manage a citation's link to library (resource locate) from within an ORLO list. Use this if you want to update an item to a newer edition, or link to an edition/copy in a different library.
Use the three-dots menu on a citation, and click 'Manage link to library':
The library search page will appear with a simple search already performed. You can edit this search; use the Advanced search menu to change the search scope and add extra fields to your search.
Click 'more details' on any citation to check the item's location, edition etc.
Once you have located the correct citation, click 'link' to replace the citation on the list:
The citation in the list will then show the availability for the linked item.
A new browser extension for Chrome is available, in addition to the curret bookmarklet. Ex Libris plan to release extensions for other browsers in due course. To add the extension:
From the settings (cog) menu, select Cite it:
In the pop-up menu, select Chrome extension:
Follow the link to the Chrome webstore to add the extension; make sure you also copy the Institution information:
Click 'Add to Chrome' to add the extension:
Once the extension has been installed, right-click or use the three-dots menu to access the extension options:
In the configurations menu, paste the Institution information you copied earlier:
Click save. Your extension is now ready to use.
