ORLO lists can be exported in several ways and for several uses. You can:
Exports can be made at list and section level; Export options are accessed via the three-dots menu:
The boxes below detail how to perform these actions, as well as useful tips on exporting.
Access the Export options, and use the dropdown to select Word. Note - this is above 'PDF':
Using the 'Bibliography style' dropdown, select from the range of styles available. Top tip! Scroll to the bottom of the menu to find Expanded Reading List Style, which will most closely resemble the list you see (includes tagging, reading importances, public notes.) - this is good to use to share with academics who do not have SSOs yet:
Then select what fields you need to include in your export:
List order will output the list as you see it; clicking Title will rearrange the list into Alphabetical Order by Title.
Click Export to finish.
LGN is a proprietary file type for the software underlying ORLO. By exporting a list as an .lgn file, you can make a copy of your list which can subsequently be re-imported in its entirety, with all citations and sections intact. Use this to:
Follow the steps above to export your list, but scroll down to select .lgn as the file type.
To Import the file:
Follow the instructions in the Export to Word box (left), selecting the different format options as needed. The fields to select will change depending on what export option you pick. Bibliography Style is not an option for these exports. List order will export the list as it appears on ORLO; Title will generate a list alphabetically by title. (Unfortunately, sorting by author is not an option).
Export to RIS to import the entire list or section to your reference management software.
It is not possible to export individual items directly to reference management software from the list itself. However, items can be selected to export to RIS if they are saved in your Favourites.
