Your key for access to library resources

NHS OpenAthens (previously called Athens) is the single username and password for nearly all the library resources purchased for NHS staff.  You can find more details of the resources throughout the pages of this subject guide.

The key links on this page will allow you register, update details and check on the different resources available to you.

NHS OpenAthens registration is straightforward using the online form:

  • complete your details
  • click the link in the resulting email
  • select a password.

Registration is best carried out on an NHS PC to ensure you are recognised as being eligible but you can also register from any PC provided  that you use your NHS email address.

You can log in using your email address rather than the username but do retain your username in case you need to reset your password (third option on the list).

If you have difficulties with your OpenAthens login you should contact hcl-athens@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.

If you need assistance with electronic resources then contact hcl-enquiries@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.

We have a helpsheet to show you how to access resources using OpenAthens. Please also see our page on the Knowledge and Library Hub which is a search engine and shows your results with links to the full text if available through your OpenAthens account
