Ebooks are digital versions of written works. Many ebooks have enhanced functionality, such as connectivity with reference management software, the ability to annotate and accessibility features.
Use the tabs at the top of this box to find out what ebook resources are available to OUH Trust staff.
The NHS Knowledge and Library Hub (The Hub) is the gateway to all NHS resources so is a good starting point when searching for ebooks. Use the Hub to search by topic, author and title. Use the search filter to limit your search results to ebooks. These ebooks are accessible from anywhere.
The following is a list of ebook platforms. You can browse and search across all ebooks in these individual collections and encounter titles of interest you may not have otherwise found.
The Bodleian Libraries (University of Oxford) subscribe to thousands of ebooks.
This collection of ebooks is separate from the NHS ebooks mentioned elsewhere in this guide.
OUH staff have free onsite-only access to most of the ebooks in the Bodleian Libraries collection. Just sign up to the library for access. Then access ebooks via our library computers (university network) or by connecting your personal device to our ‘Bodleian-Libraries’ Wi-Fi. Search for these ebooks in SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online).
Staff and students at the University of Oxford can access Bodleian Libraries ebooks from anywhere using their Oxford Single Sign On. For more information visit our Finding Ebooks guide.
Some of the Bodleian Health Care Libraries are trialling ebook cards which you can scan for quick access to Bodleian Libraries ebooks on your personal device. The cards also provide short URLs for use on library PCs (university network). All library members can use these cards (OUH and University of Oxford).
Connect your device to the "Bodleian-Libraries" WiFi and scan the QR code on one of our ebook cards. If you have an Oxford SSO you can access from any location or network (Oxford Uni only).
A number of eresources, including ebook collections, are freely available online. Some of these are listed below.
The Bodleian Health Care Libraries house a collection of around 25,000 books. Books are available for library members to borrow during staffed hours. If you have a contract with the OUH Trust you are eligible for free library membership
