UK Data Service has developed a “UKDS Data Skills Framework for working with large scale survey data, census, and macro-level aggregate data” which have been published in a Discussion Paper on Zenodo 10.5281/zenodo.10911305

This is a live and evolving piece of work, and comments can be sent to ukdstraining@manchester.ac.uk.

The Framework focuses on the skills needed to use quantitative large-scale survey, census, and macro-level aggregate data characteristic of the UK Data Service holdings. It emphasises continued development of traditional data skills for contemporary research needs, while recognising growing potential for integrating survey or census data with an expanding array of other sources, as well as opportunities presented by AI and machine learning for enhancing analysis. The paper also includes a diagram of UKDS' analysis of the UK data skills training landscape.
