1950/51 The Chinese army liberates Tibet

1959 (Lhasa Uprising), the spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, fled to India. There has been a government-in-exile in India since.

1965 Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR, Xizang Zizhiqu) brought a large area into the legal system of the PRC.
