Submitting your thesis to ORA: Persistent URLS

Purpose

This page explains persistent URLs and how they benefit authors of theses deposited to ORA.

Persistent URLs

The record of every item in ORA is assigned a persistent URL.

This URL looks something like this: http://ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:354fc08f-b385-463c-ad6b-c463a5170179

Because ORA uses a recognised system for persistent links, this link should remain active in perpetuity, meaning that people wishing to access your item should not ever be faced with 'dead' links (e.g. 'This page could not be found' or 'This page no longer exists'.)

The Bodleian Libraries are committed to retaining live links to items held in ORA.

You can use these links to point to items however you wish, on websites or when citing the work, safe in the knowledge that you will not be directing windows to dead ends.
