Purpose of This Guide

Get started with point of care tool DynaMed. 

This guide is intended for staff and students at the University of Oxford.

We have a separate guide for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff who want to use DynaMedex (DynaMed and Micromedex with Watson).    

Getting Started

STEP 1: Access DynaMed through your institution (University of Oxford).

STEP 2: Create your free personal user account for full functionality 

STEP 3: Download the mobile app for on-the-go access

Access DynaMed through your institution (University of Oxford)

 

  • Go to SOLO or Databases A-Z and search for 'DynaMed'
  • Follow the link to DynaMed. This will take you to the DynaMed homepage. 
  • Click on the 'people' icon 'People' icon web button in the upper-right corner of the DynaMed homepage. 
  • If you get a pop up box indicating that your access is courtesy of, 'UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD' (as per the screenshot below), then you have been successful and can move on to STEP 2 (create a personal user account).

Account Setup

  • To create your account, log on to the University of Oxford instance of DynaMed (see STEP 1) and click on the 'people' icon A screenshot of the People icon in the upper-right corner of the DynaMed homepage.
  • Click on the 'Create Account' button in the resulting dialogue box.

  • This will take you to a short online form. Complete the online form
  • Return to dynamed.com and sign in with your new credentials. 
  • Use your new account to access DynaMed from anywhere (from now on you can skip STEP 1 and just sign in from dynamed.com).  

 

Personal Account Benefits

  • Use your personal user account to access DynaMed on any device or network
  • Track your usage for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits 
  • 'Follow' topics by setting up personalised alerts.
  • Save searches.

 

Resetting Your Password

  • From the Sign In Screen, click 'Forgot password?'
  • Enter your email address and click 'Continue'. You will be prompted to check your email for a security code.
  • Enter the security code and set a new password.

Download the mobile app

 

  • Download the mobile app for quick, on-the-go access. 
  • The app is available on Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iOS) 
  • The app is compatible with any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 10.0 or higher or any Android device running Android 5.0 or higher.  
  • Search for 'Dynamed' and download the app. 
  • It is recommended that you are on a Wi-Fi connection for the initial download of DynaMed content as well as when updates become available. The app can then be used offline. 
  • Open the app on your device, tap 'Sign in' and enter your personal user account credentials (see STEP 2 if you don't know your credentials)
  • More detailed instructions are available online.  

 

Mobile Browser

If you don’t want to download the app to your device, you can access DynaMed on your mobile browser with your personal user account credentials. The mobile browser experience mimics the web version of DynaMed.

Simply enter ‘dynamed.com’ in your mobile browser (Safari, Chrome) and log in with your personal user account credentials.
