This guide is intended for clinical medicine students and other members of the University of Oxford using DynaMed. 

We have a separate guide for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff who want to use DynaMedex (DynaMed and Micromedex with Watson).

Getting Started

Accessing DynaMed is easy. Follow the steps below to get the most out of this resource. Use the tabs at the top of this section for more information. Get in touch if you have any questions.  

STEP 1: Sign in to the Oxford version of DynaMed with your Oxford Single Sign On (SSO).

STEP 2: Use the Create Account button to register for your free personal account.

STEP 3: Download the DynaMed mobile app for on-the-go (and offline) access.

Access DynaMed with your Oxford SSO

The first step is to access the Oxford version of DynaMed with your Oxford Single Sign On (or on the University network). 

 

  • Sign in to the Oxford version of DynaMed with your Oxford Single Sign On (SSO). This will take you to the DynaMed homepage. 
  • If you see a box on the right hand side of the page indicating that your access is courtesy of the, 'UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD' (as per the screenshot below), then you have you have successfully signed in to the Oxford version of DynaMed and may proceed to STEP 2 (create a personal account).

STEP 2

Create your free personal user account. 

A personal account is required to access the mobile app for on-the-go (and offline) access, anytime, anywhere. It is also needed to save searches and set up personalised alerts. 


 

Account Setup

  • To create your account, log on to the University of Oxford instance of DynaMed (see STEP 1) and click the 'Create Account' button on the right hand side of the page.

  • This will take you to a short online form. Complete the online form
  • Return to dynamed.com and sign in with your new credentials. 
  • Use your new account to access DynaMed from anywhere (from now on you can skip STEP 1 and just sign in from dynamed.com).  

 

Personal Account Benefits

  • Your personal user account is required to access the DynaMed app. 
  • Track your usage for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits 
  • 'Follow' topics by setting up personalised alerts.
  • Save searches.

 

Resetting Your Password

  • From the Sign In Screen, click 'Forgot password?'
  • Enter your email address and click 'Continue'. You will be prompted to check your email for a security code.
  • Enter the security code and set a new password.

STEP 3 

Download the mobile app

 

  • Download the mobile app for quick, on-the-go access. 
  • The app is available on Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iOS) 
  • The app is compatible with any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 10.0 or higher or any Android device running Android 5.0 or higher.  
  • Search Google Play or the App Store for 'Dynamed' and download the app. 
  • It is recommended that you are on a Wi-Fi connection for the initial download of DynaMed content as well as when updates become available. The app can then be used offline. 
  • Open the app on your device, tap 'Sign in' and enter your personal user account credentials (see STEP 2 if you don't know your credentials)
  • More detailed instructions are available online.  

 

Mobile Browser

If you don’t want to download the app to your device, you can access DynaMed on your mobile browser with your personal user account credentials. The mobile browser experience mimics the web version of DynaMed.

Simply enter ‘dynamed.com’ in your mobile browser (Safari, Chrome) and log in with your personal user account credentials.
