Summer Schools: Searching SOLO

A brief guide to Oxford University Libraries

Getting started with SOLO

SOLO is a good starting point for searching for the items you need in Oxford's libraries. A detailed guide to SOLO is available at https://libguides.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/solo/help or you can use the Help link in the top menu bar of any SOLO screen. There is also a Live Chat service, accessed by the tab on the right of the screen. The service is available 9am-5pm Monday - Friday.

Searching SOLO

This is a slideshow to demonstrate a SOLO search.

To carry out your own search, go to http://solo.bodleian.ox.ac.uk

Enter key words to search.

You don't need the full title. You can include both the author's name and words from the title in the same search box.

The default is "Search everything"

"Search everything" includes all Oxford University libraries and electronic resources. You can choose to restrict your search to one library using the drop down menu.

If you want to see which books are held in the Rewley House Continuing Education Library, select Continuing Education Library in the drop-down menu.

When you have found the title you are looking for, select "Find and Request"

On the "Find and Request" screen, select "Continuing Education Library"

Check the book is available and make a note of the shelfmark

Library staff can show you how to find the book using the shelfmark.
