Sainsbury Library: Library Induction Series: Home

Welcome to the Sainsbury Library!

Welcome to the Sainsbury Library! We are the University's Business & Management subject library, based at the Saïd Business School. The Sainsbury Library is one of the Bodleian Libraries, a collection of research and departmental libraries dotted across Oxford. Members of the Saïd Business School with SBS access cards can use the library whenever the Park End Street building is open. During term (Weeks 1-9), the library is staffed from Monday to Friday 9.00am-7.00pm .

This guide will help you find all the information you need to feel confident in using the library and the many library resources available to you. Library staff are on hand to answer any questions, just contact us using the details on the left. There are no stupid questions (actually we prefer the stupid ones because they're usually easier to answer!), so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Using the library space

The Sainsbury Library is located on the first and second floor at the Saïd Business School. Students and staff at the business school will have an SBS access card- this allows you to use the library whenever the Park End Street building is open.

Lidded drinks are permitted in the library, however food is not allowed.

Quiet conversation is allowed in the Lower Reading Room and the Upper Reading Room is reserved for silent study. If you need to take a phone/Skype call, please step outside the library as this disturbs other readers.

The Sainsbury Library has several PCs and Macs throughout, as well as a Bloomberg terminal and two Eikon terminals on the first floor. Wifi is available throughout for your own devices. A range of chargers, power adapters, etc can be borrowed from the enquiry desk during staffed hours.

The PCAS: Printing, Copying and Scanning service is available on the first floor. Information on setting up your account and adding credit is available here. You will be able to print either from our computers or from your own device. This system is used across the Bodleian Libraries.

SOLO & borrowing books

The University libraries' catalogue is called SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online). Use SOLO to search for books, articles, newspapers, databases, journals and more. In order to access the full set of resources available to you, you will need to sign in with your Single Sign On.

Borrowing

Members of the Saïd Business School have the following loan allowances in the Sainsbury Library. Books can be renewed as many times as required via your SOLO account, providing no-one else has put in a reservation. Vacation loans are activated at the end of each term, meaning you won't have to return your books until the beginning of the next term.
