Artists' film at Oxford

There is a limited selection of avantgarde and artists' films on DVD in the Taylor Library and English Faculty Library film collections - including, for example, films by Stan Brakhage, Jonas Mekas, Hans Richter and Bill Viola. Search on SOLO to find holdings of works by specific filmmakers.

Arts Council Collection
The Arts Council Collection includes many artists' films; details are listed on their website. The 'Classification' drop-down menu in the 'Browse' section allows you to browse 'Film and audio' works, or you can search for individual artists.
British Artists' Film & Video Study Collection (BAFVSC)
Central Saint Martins' research collection for artists' moving-image includes over 4,000 video copies of artists' works, as well as 5,000 still images and files on 450 artists. The website provides details of what is in the collection, but works must be viewed on site at CSM, for research purposes.
British Artists' Moving Image Database
A project of BAFVSC, this database covers experimental and avant-garde film, video art, artists' television, gallery-based installations and other works that use moving image, made by British and British-based artists. It provides detailed information about several thousand works.
EDAU Artists' Film & Video Study Collection
The University of Central Lancashire's Electronic and Digital Art Unit (EDAU) Artists' Film & Video Study Collection: works can be viewed on site by scholars and researchers.
FLAMIN - Film London Artists' Moving Image Network

LUX: Artists' Moving Image
LUX supports and promotes artists’ moving image practice; the website gives details of the LUX collection, which includes over 4,000 films and videos by over 1,000 international artists, ranging from the 1920s to the present.
Tate Channel
Tate Gallery's film archive: includes artists’ films, artist interviews, short films about Tate exhibitions and artworks, and recordings of Tate talks and symposia. All films are streamed online.
