Who was Capability Brown?

Portrait of Capability BrownLancelot 'Capability' Brown, 1716-1783, was an influential landscape architect and gardener. Many of his landscapes survive today.

2016 was the tercentenary of his birth and many commemorative events were held throughout the year all over the country including research and restoration projects. To celebrate the anniversary, the Rewley House Continuing Education Library published this guide to highlight resources for researching Brown. These include both resources available to members of the University of Oxford and freely available resources. There's also a page on Capability Brown in Oxfordshire.
