Throughout the year: School group tours. Dates will be posted on the library door; these usually happen just after lunchtime.

Summer Stocktake: The library will remain open during stocktake this year. Study spaces will always be available, but please note that there may be some dust and noise.

You can help to keep the library a pleasant space for everyone to study in by remembering the following:

• Please keep talking and noise to a minimum. 
• Please switch all electronic devices to silent, or use headphones.
• Please leave the library to have a conversation, whether in person or by phone.
• Please do not consume food in the library.
• Please bring drinks in spill-proof containers only.
• Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
• Please use only one study space at a time.
• Please do not leave your belongings in the library when you are not there. Please use one of the storage boxes provided in the Angus room. 
• Please do not keep books on your desk that have not been checked out to you. Other students may be looking for these on the shelves. 
• Please do not bring any personal belongings into the library which are not study-related.

The Regent’s Park College library is home to several interesting portraits and other unusual features:

• There is a portrait of Baptist missionary William Carey (1761–1834) in the library near the entrance (on your left if you turn around and face the entrance once you’ve walked in). It is said to have been painted by a student at John Sutcliff’s Academy. It is one of the few existing portraits of him wearing a wig before he rejected that habit during his journey to India.
• Over the double doors to the journals room at the back of the library is a portrait of John Bunyan by an unknown artist. This painting is not widely known, but in 1819 it formed the basis of an engraving by William Sharp.
• The large windows in the middle of the library on the left as you face the back of the library have a stylized map of the world traced on them, including animals and trade products associated with various regions at the time of the window’s creation. This window was originally part of the Glasgow Empire Exhibition of 1938, photographs of which can be viewed on the Mitchell Library Glasgow website.

The college library is open to students and staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except for the Christmas period when the college is closed.

External readers are welcome to contact the librarian if there is a book held by Regent's Park College that is not otherwise available from the Bodleian and that you wish to consult. As we cannot usually accommodate external readers during term time, you may be asked to schedule your visit for the vacation period.
