Library Services for Students on Short Courses

If you enrolled on one of the following short courses at Oxford University's Department for Continuing Education, you are eligible to register for library membership:

Please find information below relevant to your course category:

Weekly Oxford Worldwide (WOW)

The Continuing Education Library is supporting Oxford University Department for Continuing Education's programme of virtual classes 'Weekly Oxford Worldwide' (WOW). Our provision is primarily through digital reading material made available via your WOW course site. We have invited WOW tutors to request course readings and, where possible, we have provided these readings as digital scans of book chapters on your course site. If you have any questions about this provision, please contact us, and we will be happy to help.

WOW students who live locally to Oxford may wish to access our library’s physical collections. For information about registering to use the library, please visit our website

Of course, the majority of WOW students will not be able to visit Oxford. However, in addition to material provided through your course site, you can access a wide range of free digital resources via ‘SOLO’ the University’s online library catalogue. For help and information about these resources please see our guide. For help with using SOLO, see our video below.

In-person weekly classes

The Department's in-person 'weekly class' programme  is taught at Ewert House, in Summertown, Oxford. Although there is not a library at Ewert House, computers at Ewert House provide access to the full range of Oxford University's digital resources. The Continuing Education Library at Rewley House is a short bus ride away, and buses are frequent.

At the Continuing Education Library at Rewley House, you will find books purchased specifically for your course, which you can borrow. Library computers  provide access to the full range of Oxford University's digital library resources. Library staff are on hand and are very happy to help you to explore library resources. For further information about using the library, please see our website

If you are unable to visit the library in person, you can still explore a range of free digital resources online via SOLO, the library catalogue. For further information please see our guide. For help with SOLO, see the video below.
