Managing your references: EndNote and EndNote Online

Transfer with EndNote

You can easily transfer references between your EndNote library and your EndNote online library using Transfer with EndNote.  With EndNote X5 onwards file attachments can also be transferred.

Citations and bibliographies

Cite references and create bibliographies in MS Word and Open Office documents with Cite While You Write.

There are instructions on how to install and use Cite While You Write in the Getting Started Guide.

Share references in EndNote online

Share references with your colleagues by creating groups in EndNote online.

You can allow some group members to edit references in the group library, but give others read only access.

Note that an EndNote online account is required to access an EndNote online group.

EndNote iPad App

An EndNote app for the iPad is available. It can be purchased and downloaded through Apple's iTunes store.

How does it work?

EndNote is desktop software.  It is installed on some library computers and is available to buy through IT Services for your personal PC or mac.

EndNote Online (previously EndNote Web) is web-based software and can be used to transport your EndNote library, but is also available to all Oxford University members through the university's subscription.  A computer with EndNote installed is not required to use EndNote online.
