The Enquiry Service provided by the Main Enquiry Desk team of the Bodleian Library with additional information about broader library services.

Book Valuations

The Bodleian Library is unable to offer valuations of rare books. Such enquiries should be directed to an antiquarian book-seller. The following website is a useful tool in finding your nearest book-seller:

Genealogy / Family History / Private Research Enquiries

The Enquiry Service is not equipped to undertake academic, private or personal research on behalf of enquirers, beyond answering specific questions directly relating to holdings in the Bodleian’s collections.

However, if you are researching your family history and believe that one of your ancestors had a link with Oxford University (e.g. they were a student or a staff member), you should direct your enquiry to the University Archives.
