First Steps

All the oriental printed book collections (with the exception of Chinese) are catalogued in SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online). The Bodleian Libraries’ Chinese book collections are catalogued and discoverable in the separate Allegro Chinese Catalogue.

For special collections, the Archives Hub, a gateway to higher education archives in the UK, includes brief descriptions of catalogued Bodleian manuscript collections. Our card catalogues are also now searchable online (searchable database of card catalogues of Oriental Manuscripts at the Bodleian Library)

Uncatalogued Oriental manuscripts and an index to donors and vendors can be found in a card catalogue available in the David Reading Room in the Weston Library.

More specialised guides to the Bodleian's holdings in Oriental languages are available through the tabs on this LibGuide.
