Oxford Medicine Online

Oxford Medicine Online is a collection of prestigious digital medical resources from Oxford University Press, including world-renowned titles covering a variety of specialty areas ranging from anaesthesiology to nursing, and from dentistry to neurology.

Available on the Oxford Academic platform, content is easy to navigate, accessible on any device, and supports a myriad of tools and features, images and videos, diagrams and charts, and more.

 

How to Access OUP Resources

Oxford Academic 

In July 2022, the following resources all migrated to the Oxford Academic platform. 

  • Oxford Scholarship Online
  • Oxford Handbooks Online
  • Oxford Medicine Online
  • Oxford Clinical Psychology
  • AMA Manual of Style
  • Very Short Introductions 

 

How to Access Oxford Academic 

  1. The first step is to register for an OpenAthens account. All OUH Trust staff qualify for a free OpenAthens account
  2. Next, sign in to your OpenAthens account, go to My resources and select Oxford University Press academic resources. This will take you to the Oxford Academic platform.  
  3. If you want to search for medical handbooks or textbooks, click on the link to 'Books' at the top of the page.
  4. Then scroll down the page and select the option to 'visit Oxford Medicine Online'. 

 

Alternatively, go to the Oxford Academic website, click on the profile icon at the top of the page A screenshot of a profile iconand sign in through your institution ('NHS in England'). Enter your OpenAthens username and password when prompted. 

 

Go to Databases A-Z and select  'Oxford Academic: Books (including University Press Scholarship)'  (Use your Oxford SSO for offsite access).

This will take you to the Oxford Academic platform.
