The NHS Knowledge and Library Hub is a search engine connecting NHS staff to high-quality knowledge and evidence resources all in one place, including journal articles, e-books, databases, and other resources. 

The Knowledge and Library Hub is the gateway to all NHS resources. 

Getting started

Use the tabs at the top of this section for more information about the Hub. 

The NHS Knowledge and Library hub is the gateway to all NHS resources, so it is a good starting point for your search. 

The Hub offers an intuitive search experience for quick searches and options for in-depth searches.

  • Over 7,000 journals
  • Books and e-publications including OUP handbooks
  • One-click access to full-text, request a copy or connect with an NHS library
  • Clinical decision support tools such as BMJ Best Practice
  • Clinical guidelines and procedures
  • Access to in depth search tools like Medline, EMBASE and CINAHL

Seamless access to journals is built in with one click access to PDFs, with an option to request journal articles that are not available.  

How to Access the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub

  1. Visit the Knowledge and Library Hub homepage.
  2. Click the yellow 'Welcome, Guest' banner at the top of the page and sign in with your OpenAthens account*. This ensures that you have full access to resources purchased for OUH Trust staff.

Advanced searching

The Knowledge and Library Hub has links to bibliographic databases for more advanced searching, including Ovid Medline, Ovid Embase and EBSCO CINAHL. Visit our Databases page for more information about these different databases.

Using the EBSCO interface
