This checklist may be used to confirm that yourself or your student is ready to deposit a thesis to ORA.
Is my degree programme a recognised postgraduate research degree or pre-approved taught masters degree which is eligible for thesis deposits to ORA?
Have I been granted leave to supplicate? You may not deposit your thesis with ORA until it has been examined and leave to supplicate has been granted.

Do you have all the rights to make your work available, or do you need permission from other rightsholders for things such as images?
Have you anonymised your work or results sufficiently, or obtained explicit consent from any subjects whose identity could be revealed from making your paper publicly available?

Do you have both versions of your work ready to deposit (a dissemination version and an archive version), as required in order to be cleared for graduation?
Have I selected the best file types? We accept any file type for preservation in ORA, but you may wish to consider which formats will ensure the broadest possible accessibility by others, both now and in the future. To help future-proof your work, you may wish to deposit more than one format of the same item. For example, plain text files (such as .txt, .csv, .html, and .xml) are both human and machine readable, and can be opened in any operating system by a wide range of applications, unlike some proprietary software formats.

Do I need to apply for an extension to the embargo period?
You may require an extension to your embargo period depending on your agreement with your publisher or funding body, or if there are national security, legal, ethical, or commercial constraints on making your work publicly available.
When an item is embargoed in ORA, the associated metadata record is usually visible, but the full text cannot be viewed or downloaded. If necessary, both the file(s) and the descriptive record can be hidden from public view.
You need to know whether the rights associated with your thesis allow you to deposit it in ORA. Please be particularly aware of the rights of third party copyright holders (i.e. materials included in the thesis where the copyright is held by a third party). Supplicate: Ask for a degree to be conferred at a degree ceremony. E.g. candidates who satisfactorily complete a DPhil are granted ‘Leave to supplicate’, meaning they have passed.
