Purpose of this guide

This guide is intended for students and researchers studying Latin American Studies at the University of Oxford, although students and researchers from any field may find it useful.

Use this index to find out about online guides that give information about books and online resources for subjects within the broad area of Latin American Studies, including ebooks, ejournals, bibliographic databases.

Guides to key libraries

The following libraries hold relevant collections for the study of Latin America. The Bodleian Library is the central research library for the Humanities, and has been collecting Latin American and Caribbean material since 1602. The Latin American Centre Library supports the study of Latin American politics, economics, social sciences and history. The Taylor Institution has an extensive collection of Latin American literature and language material, as well as many volumes covering history and culture.

Latin American Studies

The study of Latin America spans a number of different disciplines across the University, covering such topics as history, economics, politics, languages, literature, anthropology, international relations, development studies and sociology.

The guides below have been created to help you make the most of Oxford's extensive resources. Some of the guides are dedicated wholly to Latin American topics, whilst others are more general with sections on the region. If you have any queries, please contact the relevant librarian.
